Beneath the Treasury Building lies a secret underground bunker, built as the governmentā€™s emergency hideout during World War I and World War II. South Australia became a key defense hub, housing three massive factories: the Hendon Ammunition Factory (producing small arms ammunition), the Finsbury Munitions Factory (creating shell casings and fuses), and the Salisbury Explosives Factory. The Sleeps Hill Railway Tunnels were repurposed into secure ammunition storage and even a vault to protect the stateā€™s treasures. Across the state, air raid shelters were strategically placed, including in Prospect and Islington, ensuring South Australians were prepared for any potential threats.

Shark Safety Guide I Found

South Australia is making waves with a $500,000 boost to shark safety, ensuring a safer summer for beachgoers. In partnership with Surf Life Saving SA, the initiative includes drones buzzing over beaches, trauma kits on standby, and extended helicopter patrols keeping watch. Schools will dive into new education programs, and high-risk areas will see upgraded signage and coastal risk assessments. This response, inspired by community feedback and the Shark Taskforceā€™s insights, is all about protecting our coastline and its visitors while making South Australiaā€™s beaches safer.

Preschool Teachers News

South Australia is strengthening its education workforce, with nearly 100 preschool teachers set to become permanent next yearā€”more than the past decade combined. This initiative is part of the Malinauskas Governmentā€™s efforts to boost job security and attract more talent to teaching. With plans to introduce preschool for three-year-olds by 2026, these changes ensure a stable and thriving workforce, supporting the future of South Australiaā€™s children and addressing challenges like teacher shortages seen in other states.
