Mars at Opposition – 16 Jan

Mars will shine brightly in the night sky on Thursday, 16 January, as it reaches opposition. From the Adelaide Hills, it will be visible to the naked eye from 9:33 PM to 5:24 AM, peaking at 1:28 AM at 29° above the northern horizon.

At its closest to Earth, Mars will appear larger and brighter than usual in the constellation Gemini, glowing at magnitude -1.4. Don’t miss this stunning celestial event—perfect for stargazing!
