But I’d love to—it’s one of the best parts of our beautiful state—and luckily, I’ve met Steph Kilpatrick, a Hills local who’s run the Adelaide Hills Roadside Stalls Facebook group for 5 years.

A new intimate wine bar, featuring local and French wines, is set to open in the historic Adelaide Fruit and Produce Exchange building. [INFO]

In the 1860s, John Peggotty, known as the "Birdman of the Coorong," terrorized travelers near Burra—not on horseback, but atop a speedy ostrich! His bizarre choice of getaway left victims too stunned to resist, and his swift, long-legged mount made escape easy.

Peggotty’s crime spree was short-lived, as authorities eventually caught up with him near the Coorong. While his fate remains uncertain, his eccentric legend lives on—commemorated by a memorial in Meningie.

Next time you’re in the area, imagine the surreal sight of a bushranger galloping across the outback on an ostrich!
